About the Trip

Lino and I planned this pilgrimage with Father Jim Chern. It was supposed to be a relaxing pilgrimage to Rome and Assisi, but like our pilgrimage to Greece, God had other plans. Shortly before we were set to depart, Pope Benedict announced his resignation. We were scheduled to be in Rome a few days later. We arrived not knowing when the Conclave would begin. I have a great relationship with both hotels where we were to stay, so Rome allowed us to extend our stay, and Assisi allowed us to cancel. There was no way we were going to be in Assisi during the Conclave.
