Twelve Days Straight with the Outlier Breezy Linen Pivot

I spent twelve days in Jordan, Israel, and Palestine… in August… and I wore the same shirt every single day.

The shirt is the Breezy Linen Pivot from Outlier. Nearly all my pants are from Outlier, but this was my first, and definitely not last, shirt made by this Brooklyn clothing company.

You’d think that living in Italy, I could find the perfect linen shirt. I’ve tried. Nothing I’ve found here comes close to the quality of the Breezy Linen Pivot.

It certainly was not my intention to wear this shirt everyday, but it was so comfortable and cool. I did wear another shirt for a few hours one day, but it was so itchy and hot, that I changed back into the linen the first chance I had.

Despite spending a night in a tent in the Wadi Rum, four wheeling through the desert, temperatures of over 100°F most days, hanging out with a few camels, and searching for the Holy Grail, the shirt never got dirty and it never got smelly.

It did wrinkle a bit, but not nearly as much as other linen shirts I’ve owned. Usually the wrinkles would work themselves out within a few hours of wear.

The nature of this trip did not require anything too formal, but the culture in the Middle East is pretty conservative, so I wanted to look decent.

This shirt kept me looking great without unwanted attention in the cosmopolitan city of Amman, while working with Iraqi refugees, celebrating Mass in the empty tomb of Christ, and flying down a sand dune in the middle of the Jordanian desert.

You know what they say about desert heat, it’s a dry heat, impossibly hot in the sun, but comfortable in the shade. Well, Rome is hot and humid, a miserable combination.

Returning to Rome and leading day tours around here, the shirt has held up very well. Walking nine miles a day in the hot Roman sun is tough on people and tough on clothes. But this is the only shirt I’ve worn on my day tours the past few weeks. However, I’ve had to wash it a few times because it does get sweatier than in the desert.

Washing the shirt in the morning, the shirt line dries in less than an hour.

I’m considering picking up an identical shirt in case anything ever happens to this one. I now have three, plus three of the newer fabric, the Ramielight Breezy Pivot.

I definitely recommend you get one. It’s my favorite summer shirt.
