Is this pilgrimage for you?

You should be in good physical shape.

We will do a lot of walking, much of it outside, and much of it on uneven ground. We can walk several miles per day. Please do consider this before signing up.

You should also enjoy a little variety.

This isn’t a trip where we spend every day doing the same thing. We’ll visit churches and Catholic sites, but we’ll also explore historic cities, castles, palaces, vineyards, villages and some pretty spectacular scenery.

And, of course, we’ll eat very well.

Itinerary

November 9th – Seville: Arrive in Seville. We’ll settle into our hotel in the center of the city and have our welcome dinner together this evening. Overnight in Seville.

November 10th – Seville: Today we’ll explore Seville, including the Royal Alcázar and the Cathedral of Seville with its famous Giralda tower. You’ll also have some free time this afternoon to explore on your own. Overnight in Seville.

November 11th – Huelva & El Rocío: Today we’ll head toward Huelva and visit La Rábida, closely connected with Christopher Columbus and his voyages to the New World. We’ll see replicas of Columbus’ ships and continue to El Rocío to visit the shrine of Our Lady of El Rocío. This evening we’ll enjoy a flamenco dinner and show. Overnight in Seville.

November 12th – Cádiz & Jerez: Today we’ll visit Cádiz, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Western Europe. We’ll see the Cathedral and historic center, including works by Goya. From there we’ll continue to Jerez, visit the Cathedral and enjoy a visit to one of the area’s famous bodegas for a wine experience. Overnight in Seville.

November 13th – Córdoba & Granada: We leave Seville this morning and head to Córdoba. We’ll visit the extraordinary Mosque-Cathedral and explore the historic center before continuing to Granada. We’ll celebrate Mass during our day. Overnight in Granada.

November 14th – Granada: Today we’ll visit the Alhambra, one of the great monuments of Spain. We’ll also visit the Basilica of Saint John of God and see the relics of this great Spanish saint. You’ll have some free time to enjoy Granada on your own. Overnight in Granada.

November 15th – Antequera & Marbella: We leave Granada and travel toward the coast, stopping in Antequera along the way. We’ll visit its ancient dolmens, the Alcazaba and some of the city’s churches. Depending on time and conditions, we may also visit the incredible landscapes of El Torcal. We continue to Marbella for the next four nights.

November 16th – Gibraltar: Today we’re going to Gibraltar. We’ll visit the Shrine of Our Lady of Europe and celebrate Mass. We’ll explore the Rock of Gibraltar, including Saint Michael’s Cave and, of course, Gibraltar’s famous macaques. We’ll have a British lunch and time to explore town before returning to Marbella.

November 17th – Ronda: Today we’ll visit spectacular Ronda. At the Carmelite convent we’ll see the incorrupt hand of Saint Teresa of Ávila and celebrate Mass. We’ll explore Ronda’s old town and famous bridges. Later we’ll have a paella cooking class followed by dinner. Overnight in Marbella.

November 18th – Mijas & Marbella: This morning we’ll visit Mijas and the tiny cave shrine of the Virgen de la Peña. We’ll celebrate Mass and then return to Marbella, where we’ll explore the old town and have some time to enjoy our final day together. This evening we’ll have our farewell dinner. Overnight in Marbella.

November 19th – Departure: Our pilgrimage ends today. Depart from Málaga Airport (AGP) for your flights home.

$7,500 per person – ground only.

The Southern Spain pilgrimage is 10 nights, November 9th – November 19th, 2026.

All prices are per person, based on double occupancy, meaning two people to a room.

Your $1,000 deposit secures your space.

Final payment is due October 12th, 2026.

Final payment is nonrefundable.

Traveling solo?

I match singles with other traveling singles (of the same sex, of course) and that always works out great.

A single room is an additional $2,000.

Single rooms are extremely limited. So, first come, first served. If I do not have another single to match you with, you are responsible for paying the applicable single supplement.

Included

Accommodations for 10 nights

We are staying four nights at the H10 Casa de la Plata in Seville.

We are staying two nights at the Gran Hotel Claridge in Granada.

We are staying four nights at the Marbella Club in Marbella.

Breakfast daily plus our included group meals

We’ll have six included meals (1 lunch and 5 dinners) together throughout the pilgrimage, including a flamenco dinner and show and paella cooking class.

Wine with our group dinners

Unlimited wine is included with our group dinners.

We’ll be traveling together by private motor coach throughout the pilgrimage.

Would you believe that many tour companies require you to tip as you go? Not only does that add to the advertised sticker price of a tour, it’s also a huge hassle to you. No need to worry about that here. Tips are already included.

You time

We have a lot planned, but time on your own is important. We’ll also have opportunities for you to explore, shop, eat, relax, or just enjoy being in Spain on your own.

Arrival & Departure

Airfare is not included in the pilgrimage price, so be sure to book your flights according to the arrival and departure information below.

Arrival

You should be in Seville by November 9th.

The easiest option is to fly directly into Seville Airport (SVQ) if you find a good itinerary.

Another very good option is to fly into Madrid (MAD) and take the high-speed AVE train from Madrid to Seville. The train takes roughly 2½ to 3 hours and arrives at Sevilla Santa Justa station in the center of the city.

If you fly into Madrid and take the train, give yourself plenty of time after your international arrival to clear immigration, collect your luggage, and travel from Madrid Airport to the train station. I would not book a tight train connection.

If your airline offers Seville as part of one through-ticket from the US, that can also be a very easy option.

Some people like to arrive a day early to get over jet lag and enjoy Seville before the pilgrimage begins. If you would like to arrive early, let me know.

Departure

Your flight home should depart from Málaga Airport (AGP) on November 19th.

Do not book your departure earlier than November 19th.

Cancellations

I want to be as flexible as possible, so I am offering full refunds if you want to cancel for any reason before October 12th.

After that time, I’ll do all I can to get you back as much as I can, but I will have made payments to the vendors, and they are not required to give me refunds.

This is why it is very important for you to have trip insurance with a “cancel for any reason” plan.

If for any reason I need to cancel or postpone the trip, you’ll receive 100% back.

In all cases, you are responsible for working with the airline to get credit or refunds for changed or cancelled flights.

Trip insurance is a wise investment in case something comes up while you are traveling. If you think there is any chance you may need to cancel, I recommend you purchase travel insurance. A “Cancel for Any Reason” plan will let you, well, cancel for ‘most’ any reason. Most plans should allow for at least a 75% refund should you need to cancel at any time before departure.

I have a friend who specializes in trip insurance. You can contact him directly, but you are under no obligation to use him and I don’t get any sort of kickbacks, so shop around and find what is best for you.
