Would you like to organize a group pilgrimage? Of course you would! You pick the destination and dates, get approval from your parish / school / diocese / organization, I do most of the work, and… you get to travel for free!
Here are step by step instructions on how to get started.
Step one: Pre-planning
If you are not the head of your parish or school or organization, it would be silly to organize something before you have permission – which is step two. However, if you are going to approach the pastor or school principal, etc, it’s best to have a general idea of what you’d like to propose. Take a look at some of our upcoming pilgrimages or past trips for some ideas and then contact me with your thoughts. I’ll send you an estimate based on when and where you want to go and what we will see and do.
Step two: Getting approval
At this point you should be able to take the proposal to the person in charge for permission. Nothing we’ve done is set in stone. This is simply a general outline of the type of pilgrimage we can offer with an estimate of costs depending on when we travel. It’s usually more than enough to get the okay to move ahead. Of course if more info is needed, we can work together to get everything in order.
Step three: Working out the details
Now that we can move forward, we will work together to finalize the price and itinerary. Once everything is set, I will upload the itinerary on my site (here’s an example), and this will be where people can go to sign up and contact me for additional info.
Step four: Promoting and selling the trip
This part is crucial to the success of our pilgrimage – getting people to sign up. It’s also where you earn your free trip! If you are organizing a school trip, you can email the students and parents, and that’s usually all it takes to get people interested. If you are organizing a parish trip, it really helps if you can mention the trip in the church announcements and place information in the bulletin. In some cases, schedule permitting, and at no cost to you, I can come to your parish or school to speak and answer any questions.
Step five: I do the rest, and you travel for free!
As people sign up, I take over. Sure, there will be people who might still come to you with questions, but at this point, everything goes through me. I will send you updates as to who has signed up to keep you in the loop. All questions and concerns I will answer and address directly with the travelers. I collect all the money so you don’t have to worry or keep up with any of that. All flight, passport, health issues, etc., goes through me. I will set up and monitor a private Facebook page for everyone to get to know one another. As we get closer to departure, I will send out info with packing suggestions, what to expect on the trip, etc.
