In 2006 I led Regina Caeli Academy on a Christmas pilgrimage through Italy.
My lovely bride flew over at the end of the trip for a second honeymoon and we spent a gorgeous week traveling through Rome, Siena and Florence.
One cold and rainy night in Rome, we visited the Christmas Market in Piazza Navona. Despite the weather, everyone was out. The wet cobblestone had a great effect on the lights and made for a great picture.
The next year, National Geographic Travel contacted me and asked if they could use the picture on a Christmas series they were writing.
Of course I was very honored to say yes!
Here’s the article: Christmas in Rome
